I just purchased a 1979 300 D. I am a film director and purchased the car for use an upcoming film project. I paid $500 for her and spent the last three days in the beginning stages of restoring the car.
I am sure in the next couple of weeks I'm going to need input from some of you guys out there that really know these cars.
I do restore cars as a hobby but this is my first 300 D so I am not that familiar with the car.
Here are pictures of the car as it appeared the day I bought it versus images I took this evening. I think you'll agree that this car is going to turn out beautifully.
The hub caps were in the trunk..... The guy had replaced them with some cheap auto parts store wheel covers. I will have to replace the clips and 1 of the hub caps is missing. I understand finding hub caps in the cars color can be difficult.
The car seems to run fine.
The car as it appeared Monday afternoon. When I pulled up in this thing my wife thought I had lost my mind I however knew I would be able to make this car into something great. She is now a believer and loves the car
