2013 Mercedes-Benz C300
First-time Benz owner from Toronto

Hi everyone,

I'm a first-time Benz owner from Toronto area here. Just last week I picked up a mint 2013 C300 4Matic with beautiful staggered wheel setup and brand new Pirelli tires.

Within a week I've had a lot happen. Some good things, some bad. I'm just getting out of a 13 year old Mitsubishi Lancer that I've loved everyday but it was time to move on. My Lancer was so good that I turned down pretty much every car that I test drove.

I settled down with C300.

Less than 200km under my ownership I got into a collision with a raccoon on the highway on Mother's Day. I avoided the critter but my rule is to never try too hard to avoid and end up in a ditch upside down. So a twitch on the wheel, I almost missed it but almost is not good enough. I just heard 2 thumps, you know what that means. I pulled into the gas station and to my surprise that raccoon did a good number on my new ride. Bumper cracked, DRL hanging, bezel around DRL and black grill/frame behind it all gone. So I called in and reported it. I have paid my insurance deductible before my first payment. Sucks!

I got myself some nice 15/20mm wheel spacers with appropriate bolts. I didn't realize that I received 2 sets, 1 set of bolts was ever so slightly shorter than the other and I drove and torqued wrong bolts into the front hub (15mm spacer). Now I've got myself destroyed wheel hub that just simply won't take any bolt. I tried to re-thread and broke the threader bolt inside my hub. I had to drill it out and those things are NOT easy to take out. Finally got my original bolts back in and cancelled the whole spacers because the bolts were shredded. Ugh!!

My back, arms and even knees hurt and have some kind of bruises because of the firm leather seats and thread on them as well as the leather and thread stitching on the steering wheel got to my fingers. Every inch of my skin that comes in contact with the car is irritated. Yup!

On the bright side. I convinced my insurance to install brand new parts straight from the dealer. So my car is going to the dealer in next couple of days. Until then I'm driving with a hanging bumper and zip tied DRLs.

I installed a nice and subtle spoiler that gave my car's trunk an inverted look. So smooth transition on the trunk now looks pointy. It looks gorgeous.

I'm loving the car. It's got hidden power.

So yeah! Hi from Toronto.

Welcome to MBWorld. Wow, quite an early experience. With regards to the racoon... stuff happens, what can you do. With the spacers, wow, that sucks. Yeah, makes sense you'd have different sets of bolts with different sized spacers. I've never heard of a threader bolt being broken like that, but that really sucks.

Hopefully moving forward, it'll be smooth sailings.

Things are smoothing out. I'm thinking of a way to soften the thread stitching to help a bit.

But here's pictures of my car with spoilers, only thing that went well with no hiccups.

I hope this moderation of new members will end soon... Makes things very slow to respond to.
