Hawaii with new to me 2006 CLS 500
The dealer already has 20" aftermarket wheels on it which look great and didn't seem to rub and full turn when I did a three point turn on the test drive.
This car will be for my wife when she returns from a trip to the mainland on Tuesday. She's currently rolling a 2000 Jaguar S-type. We love the Jag but true to form the one off little gremlins finally added up to where it made more sense to let it go.
The CLS 500 drives and rides a lot like the jag. It feels heavy but strong. I like that in a car honestly. It feels safer to me.
I'm stoked it has the hard points for a child car seat. They didn't have those prior to 2003 in the US so I never felt really comfortable with my toddler in the Jag since the carseat is only held down by the seatbelt.
I'm excited to get some seat time with the Merc. It has built in nav, but not touch screen. Not that big a deal really. We need nav here on the island a lot though because the streets and highways are really windy and tricky. A lot of one way streets and oddball intersections, not to mention on ramps that start of with several blocks of residential streets before you can reach them.
I'm excited to play with the seat massage. Didn't even know that was a thing in cars. Supposedly it has air conditioned seats as well which will be awesome given how hot it can be here.
I like that the back seat has multiple storage cubbies. This is great when you have toddlers. It has back seat 12v port as well so baby can use her tablets to watch movies, etc. I'll prob hang a tv on the back head rest so she can watch cartoons.
All in all seems like cool ride and definite upgrade to the Jag. Wife should love it.
I'll be updating all the maintenance stuff on the car (it's ten years old so even with the low miles it's prob time to go through everything, filters, check hoses, flush fluids, etc.)
I'll try to contribute with pics when I do the maint.
Thanks and Aloha!
