First Time MB Owner

After driving a 4x4 Tahoe for the last 12 years, I downsized to a used 2008 300c Sport.

I was looking for a car for my 16 daughter to drive and a friend of mine owns a used car lot that does mostly internet sales. As a first car, I thought she would have been overjoyed...and I was wrong.

She thought the car was HORRID! I had it for the weekend, and the longer I drove it, the more I liked the car so I bought it for myself.

My commute averages 120 miles a day. While the truck was great for hauling my gear, 95% of the time I was alone in the truck. I'm getting 26 miles per gallon, and that's a significant improvement over my truck that averaged 16 mpg.

One week later, I hopped in to go home and the car would not start. A quick check of symptoms led me to believe I was a victim of the steering column lock. I tried a few tricks from YouTube and was able to start my car and go home. Thinking ahead, I backed into my garage just in case it had to be towed. Unfortunately I was right and the car was disabled.

Called the dealer and he sent a tow truck and another car for me to use. ( A 2012 CTS by the way, and I didn't like it at all) I had my car back in 3 weeks, and it was repaired at no charge to me.

The body and interior are in like new shape, and we've tracked the service records to a dealer in Austin. Tires are new. AMG wheel package.

A couple of things I would like to address:

Headlights seem dim. I would like to get a brighter set without major work.

Buttons are worn on the radio and windows. Do the decals available look okay?

Mine does not have the navigation package. Can I add an aftermarket that looks good?

Thanks!

Hello TVOne congrats on the new vehicle

To address two things you have mentioned

#1 MB does offer a navigation upgrade part# 204 870 74 96

https://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/Digital...ors_Manual.pdf

The Nav + 4 - Universal Media Interface (Nav + 4) from Mercedes-Benz allows the Audio 20 Standard CD in the C-Class and GLK to be upgraded to an innovative and multi-functional navigation and entertainment center. In addition to the advantages of 3D GPS map navigation, and included lifetime traffic, the Nav + 4 - Universal Media Interface allows the user to play back their favorite songs from a range of portable devices via the audio interface in the glove compartment. A whole range of sources - one solution: the Nav + 4 gets your music moving. It is operated using the controller in the center console. See dealer for installation time.

#2 I assume your vehicle is equipped with halogen headlights and if you would like upgraded H7 bulbs MB does offer these as well. Part #000 998 03 07 your vehicles head lights have also probably degraded over the years and I don't really know of a good fix other than replacing the headlights. I have tried the sanding down and resealing the lights method, but that doesn't last very long. I have also seen an 09 with a new and old headlight side by side and the new one makes the car look new again.

For headlights, whatever halogen bulb you try replacing with, you'll only get marginal improvement. You'll be better off going with an HID conversion kit. It's a simple DIY project. Let us know if interested as we carry top end Morimoto HID conversion kits.
