Hey All,
New member here from Southern California and NEW to the Mercedes family. Long time fan of the AMG brand and multiple x-///M owner (E30, E34, E36, E46 ///M cars).
I m picking up a 2006 C55 in the next few days with full service records, well cared for; as I m writing this car is at the shop still getting a full inspection.
These cars seem like a bargain these days and despite the open diff, autobox and narrow stance of the rear compared to ///M cars, it's time for a big V8 and 4-doors. I mean, I cannot justify paying 20-30K+ for a 15-year old...properly maintained E39 M5, gimmie a break. For this kind of money I would rather add a little extra and put it towards a C63.
Following is a short list I have for mods. For now at least.
1. Resonator for proper sound and perhaps 2nd cat delete. I say perhaps since I m not sure that the car will benefit from the cat delete and I want to make sure it passes smog and no CEL is on. I ve read the latest threads on those mods, just haven't seen any details regarding this. Please feel free to comment, thanks.
2. Eurocharged tune. Do they also tune the Transmission control module for quicker shifts?
3. Headers (plan for later in the year)
Also adding a couple of 5.5 AMG side badges that should be good for about 20hp ea.
Rear lower part of diffuser DIY repaint in black, as those Chinese add on c/f pieces sit on top of it and exhaust needs re-positioning and the such...
