ABC pipe corroded
Hello all . . .
First time on a car forum, and first time i've ever owned/purchased a Merc :-) Have recently bought myself a 2001 S600 with the ABC system, and wondered if i were to add a picture on here, if anyone would be kind enough to possibly recognize which pipe it is that i have leaking, as i will need to replace it :-( I have been doing quite a lot of searching on the internet, and come across quite a few good diagrams . . . but can't seem to get any part number to go and get one ?!! A couple of garages and hydraulic pipe makers here on the I-O-W where i live, say they could probably match it up (or repair/copy one) if i remove it and take it in as they can't be sure with the photos i supplied them with.
The only issue i have with that is what pressure will there be in the system for me to try and take it off to get it looked at ?!! Do i just need to have all Four wheels in the air to take weight/pressure from suspension struts! I will attach a couple of pictures i quickly took on my phone the other Day before it started pouring down. It is the back of the pipe that has corroded/become porous, and i did try "liquid metal" or something similar, whilst the wheel was jacked up, in the hope that the pressure would be eased off enough for it to "take" ?! I gave it a good blast of brake/carb cleaner immediately before applying it, and it only slightly weeps when car lowered, but just want to fit a new pipe :-)
