Replaced radio so VIN is irrelevant for the code.
I recently replaced my Command unit on a 2007 ML500. I don't have the code, and the VIN is irrelevant since the radio is replaced.
How can I get the radio code? Using Seriel number?
I tried the series # on the Alpine website and it was not useful.
Thanks.

Thanks. I will ask the seller. He seems to specialize in salvaged MB radios on eBay. He says on a bench it never asked him for the code when he tested all the functionality, but I think in the car it does.

The radio has to communicate with other modules and the VIN needs to match or be reprogrammed. If you can get the VIN from the vehicle that radio came from, you can pull the VEDoc and find the correct PIN for it, but it still may need programming, I'm not sure. We always perform an initial startup/coding when replacing radios, I have no personal experience swapping a used one in and making it work just with a PIN.
