2010 S550 4Matic
Smile Greetings

No pics yet, still working on that. My father in law gave me his 2010 S550 4Matic when he got a new one, so I've owned the vehicle for about a week. Registered it, had it inspected, and have begun to get used to it. It has a few cosmetic issues, and I'm discovering just how expensive a piece of plastic from MB is. :-D Driver side rocker panel below the door is split, looks like he hit something that snapped the plastic. MB wants a mint for the replacement piece so I've been searching for a junkyard/parts place with one. Nothing local so far, did find one on eBay, nervous about it, since it's a large piece of plastic. One of my big problems is I don't know the exact names for the pieces on the car. The second cosmetic piece I'd like to fix is that it looks like he was tapped, very lightly, on the rear end. I can see two tiny license plate screw indents in the bumper, but they only barely scratched the surface. On the other hand, there is a long black plastic "panel" below the actual bumper, that is almost a shield, and wraps around the exhaust, which has a thumb sized hole in it. I don't know what that piece is called.

So my question to you good MB folks is: I'm perfectly happy - would like to in fact - pay for a manual/parts list with the diagrams so I could figure out what parts are called that I want to replace. Is there a MB manual or do I need something like a Chilton's style thing?

Last but not least - I'd driven the car during the summer for the first time, for about 3 days and had no issues, but the other morning (it was pretty standard for late November in New England) it was cold, perhaps in the upper 20's/lower 30's, and it seemed like the "Command" system was NOT happy with the cold. As an IT guy, the way I'd describe what I saw was, the Command system, (e.g. navi, audio, camera display system) rebooted at least 4 or 5 times. I'm guessing that's atypical behavior, and either had to do with the cold or some other issue that my FiL did not yet inform me of. Later in the day, I saw no such problem, which is why I was guessing it was related to the cold. Just more reason to get my muscle car sold and get the S550 into the garage.

Thanks for any advice gentle MB folks!

Easiest thing would be to drive car to mb dealer and ask them for the part numbers of the pieces you want to replace. It is free and you only use your time.

Thanks. That obviously will work, but the question still stands. Is there a parts manual/diagram available?

Thanks, I think so too. Which is why, even though the cosmetic issues are small, i want to fix them. It's hard to see except up close but I know they're there.. and so my continued pursuit of car parts goes on.
