HI guys,

I am new to this site and have a question regarding the serpetine belt and tensioner pulley positioning on w211 M272. I have installed a new belt but the belt hang of the tensioner pulley by 1/8 inch (see pics). Is this normal? I keep realligning the belt but it ends up slightly hanging off the pulley.

Here is where I removed some tension on the pulley and slid the sepertine belt over on tensioner pulley

Here is what happens after I run the engine for a few minutes

Is this the normal position, or should the entire belt sit on the pulley and not be off by 2/16 of a inch

After running, it slides over

My apologies
I replaced the entire tensioner pulley assembly, not just the pulley.

Replace the engine belt tensioner assembly, not just the pulley.. the pulley alone will solve nothing unless the bearings are failing.. There was a "fix" years ago to shim the tensioners at the front engine cover, but that was just a band-aid in my opinion..

I am done with MB, apparently now I have three additional issues:

1. Oil in the coolant - replaced oiler cooler seals (supposedly need new oil filter housing, cooler and seals)...thats just the start
2. P2006, Intake manifold runner stuck (Have to replace entire manifold - Just lever is a bandaid)
3. Balance shaft showing possible wear - known 4k repair for a car worth 3-5k

* my girlfriends crappy Nissan versa has more miles on it and does require this much expensive maintenance or have these many issues. As a matter of fact i have owned many cars that don't have these type of issues, let a lone luxury cars.

I think I am going to sell the car and stick with my Lexus. Thanks for the help...good luck :-)
