2004 E320 Wagon
faulty trans or TQ
Hi. I am brand new to this forum, but have used it for advice and help for a few years. I own a 2004 E320 Wagon which I love! however, it is showing its age now and I am having some problems that I need help with please. Long story short, a lightning strike affected the computers. Finally I have got it running and working but there is one problem remaining. I recently towed it home after it was stranded 1000 miles from home. Dealership told me they couldn't fix it or find the problem. It was a faulty (brand new) battery! That fixed, I now find that it wont engage gears. Torque convertor? It did drive perfectly before I towed it, and so I wonder if the tow damaged it. Can anyone help please? I am good at most things, but not on transmissions. The diagnostics say no faults, but says "Status of Lock up clutch - open". Is this an issue? where do I start to find out whats going on. Thank you.

How was the car transported?
Was it on a flat deck truck, towed with rear wheels on the ground? front wheels on the ground?
In my experience, towing an automatic transmission vehicle so the transmission is being spun is a major no-no.
If that was the case, there was no oil circulation, components overheated and the transmission was damaged.
