8/21/19 Just bought SL400 CONV
I am David, and this is my first Benz. I still have my 2008 Prius, which I bought new and put 276k on over 11 years, and that thing is still running strong!
Back to Benz-world, I want to get a 2nd FOB, and not pay a bunch. For the Toyo, I can buy the blank, new, OEM FOB for about $160, then program them to the Prius myself (there is a 5 FOB limit per digital certificate on the Sec chip).
My prelim reading seems to require special equipment/software to program these smart keys?
About the new ride: Paid $48k from Koons Tysons Corner, has 14k miles on it, looks and smells new, spotless. Only came with 1 FOB
, I added the extended warranty for 50k/5 years for piece of mind. Also got the 2nd best package with has GAP, road hazard, etc.Other questions: Does this model comes with the pre-emptive breaking? What are the safety features? What do I need to know about the MMI port, I purchase a Bluetooth adapter from Amazon for $30, I want to stream via BT my MP3 files from my phone. It is weird, I can connect phone via BT, but not audio?
I am also interested in maintenance, intervals, etc.
Thanks, I hope I found the right forum. FYI - Priuschat.com has been a goldmine for data on those cars, I am looking for the same type of information from here, did I find the right place?
Thanks,
David
You are in the right place, this is a great resource.
A fob plus programming and deactivation of missing fobs is anywhere from $300-$600 at a dealer. Depends on what they charge in your area. I paid $300 last year in the Midwest.
Nothing comparable between Toyota and MB, broadly stated.
I defer to others on the braking and other questions.
Enjoy!
