Introduction
Greetings: Joined MBworld as one of my sons is seriously considering an older Mercedes for his next vehicle. He is an automobile fanatic, the older the better (which I find interesting for a teenager these days). He has read a lot about cars and is now curious about German engineering. We previously had a Mustang GT 86’ that we did a little wrenching on, so light mechanic work is doable.
A couple of models he is interested include the CLK’s 2000-2003, preferably convertibles (no surprise) or a slightly newer C class. The AMG versions are nice, but I believe may be too much car. I previously owned a new C230 (2007) for three years and enjoyed that car.
I am hoping anyone on this forum can help me make a wonderful young man’s dream come true and select a good daily driver/project MB.
Sooo...between a CLK 320/430 (2000-03) and a C class under 2012 which do you recommend?
And, are there any other models to consider?

Welcome! Please post a photo of the vehicle you/he choose(s). 6 cylinder gasoline engines are generally more reliable than 8 cylinder or diesel engines for your target models.
