New Owner
I just purchased a 2005 c230 for my son's graduation present. I am having a heck of time trying to find exactly what kind of oil I should use. I am looking up the car and everything keeps coming back c230K for the Kompressor model. I have the sedan sport model. I am 5w 30, 10w 30 and 0w 30. I live in Arizona, so the heat it starting to ramp up and my son will have about a 40 minute commute to school. Any suggestions on what oil I should use? Brand, high mileage (126k miles), weight? Also, how accurate is the oil measurement on the dashboard cluster? Would it be a good idea to get a dipstick or is it even possible to add one to this car?
I've been looking over this forum this morning and I think it is awesome what you guys do. Keep up the good work!
Before we brought the headlights back to life
Evening drive and getting the feel of his new car
Loving his new Benz.. and after the headlights have been brought back to life... TurtleWax headlight cleaner... Worked great... Easy to use...
Your vehicle is a 2005 C230, from this you can determine that:
Vehicle platform is W203
Engine is M272 V6 gasoline 2.5L
You need to become familiar with: https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/d/d/en/Spec_223_2.pdf
--> Which says to use specification 229.5 for engine M272
Oil specification 229.5 https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolisten/229.5_en.html
--> This suggests you have a variety of viscosities and manufacturers to choose from, the common denominator is that they are full synthetic. My preference is Castrol or Mobil 1.
