S550e, Bolt EV
New W222 owner
Just picked up a used 2017 S550e with 50k miles a few days back and I am in love!

I am an EV technician by trade and come from a background of working on and owning EV’s, with the most “premium” car I had prior to the S class was the P85D which had some amazing memories.

But now that I have experienced PHEV S-class, things are at a whole new level with this car in its manufacturing and refinement. I wish EV’s could afford to be outfitted better on the interiors, and luxury models are pretty unreliable (ipace, etron, Tesla)

The Tesla isn’t built or marketed as a luxo car, even though musk compared it to S class back in 2012... Tesla is more about bleeding edge powertrain and autonomous tech fest with mid grade sports car level interior quality (Mustang). No Focus on NVH.... Frequent service visits etc... The cars are basically beta kit smart cars that consumers buy to help Tesla develop as a company, and people love it.

S class is far more refined, traditional, opulent, etc... Even my wife’s Bolt EV feels like a more complete and proper built car vs any Tesla...
