Hi my name is Marc
I'm new to MB world
I hope someone can help I have a 2015 250 C class my comand has been playing up for a couple of weeks it freezes when I first turn the car on and now the Sat nav won't load when I press the nav button it just says reading data and then goes off. I've attached a pic
Hi Marc and welcome to MBWorld. Your question would be best posted in the W204 forum. But the first thing that springs to mind is do you have a USB drive inserted in the USB socket in the console? If so, take it out as it’s probably got unreadable media. All the best with it.
Hi thanks for your reply
I do have a USB plugged in but that is the message that comes up when I press the nav button and the nav function doesn't work. I will try to use the w204 forum
My guess = XM free XMAS trial is messing with your system as it does same thing to mine.
Try to go to NAV and cannot read Hard drive and crashes and locks up and I have to reboot (hold power button thingy down)
Been haing this problem for ever....
Now I have 2015 E400 but Command is about the same as yours...
No cure I know of other then trying this:
Pull all COMMAND fuses to HARD RESET system.
Worked for me once...
Call XM and tell them to turn off Free XM - That worked for me in the middle of one of my trips after driving for 4 hours without nav.
Try dealership while it is doing this to see if they can fix as my guess when XM comes on some software bug messes up NAV and well MB has not figured it out yet after all these years as it never happens when you bring car into dealer
Hi
Thanks for the reply. Not sure what the XM is but I will try the power button first. If that doesn't work I'll pull the fuses. I think there in the fuse box under the bonnet block number 11 according to the chart. Hopefully that will work if not a call to the warranty company and off to the dealers. Just something I could do with out before Xmas

So what happens when you remove the USB? What is shown on the COMAND display?

XM is Sirius satelite radio...
if you are in another country then my guess is the fiber optic loop connecting components found one that is behaving badly so it just locks up the head unit as a fix...
Which is not a fix but an annoyance!
Mine just ends up fixing it self after a few days or weeks. Crazy thing Wish dealer would take it serious they tried upgrading command software no luck
you need to take it to dealer when this is happening as it is a software BLUE SCREEN of DEATH type thing.
I can have USB music in or out still happens. am or fm radio, CD in or even go to settings and she will lock up.
Locks up quickest in NAV though.
I suggest you post your question in the W205 section as your C class is a W205 and not a W204. You'll find owners in the W205 section who own the same model of MB you own and they'll be glad to help you. Someone there has likely had a similar issue. Good luck with solving it. My MB is a W201 which is your car's great grandparent so your issue is unfortunately way out of my league.
