2007 S600, 120k miles. Recently, my accumulator or dampener? (connected to the tandem pump) split open causing complete loss of ABC fluid. I gained access to the unit and tried to remove it but it wouldn't budge. I then tried an oil filter strap wrench and it still wouldn't budge. Looking for any help on how to get this thing out. I do not see any hex heads, and I want to make sure that this thing is regular threaded and can be unscrewed. Is it possible that it is removed some other way? I have attached pictures of the units top and bottom and the crack along the side. Any help would be appreciated Cracked unit Bottom of unit Top of unit
These accumulators all use standard right hand threads to attach. Sometimes applying torque and while applying torque, hitting the accumulator 'shocks' the accumulator loose. If unsuccessful, cautiously apply heat (hot air gun) to heat the threads near the bottom. In other locations a chain wrench has been used.
