R230 SL65
I’m not exactly new; been an occasional lurker.
I bought my Second Merz, 2007 SL65, Aegean Blue and Tan, about two years back. My first, for which I’ll have to dig for pictures, was a low mileage ‘78 SL450, White and tan. It was totaled while parked with three other cars 15 years back.
This SL65 was well maintained and is pretty much flawless cosmetically and is mechanically solid. The motor mounts were replaced and has a new ABC pump.
I replaced the factory radio with a Sony AX5000 CarPlay head unit driving the OEM sound system and had RENNTech mufflers welded in place of the factory units. the RENNTech’s have a nice sound quality. I considered a CAT delete also, but I’m thinking it might be too loud, or worse, droney. Otherwise, she’s OEM stock.
quick, simple, question for the group: how can the sun visors be removed? The driver side squeaks badly and needs lubricant, but I think it needs to be removed before applying a lube.
anyone taken one off a R230?
cheers
p.s. that’s not me in the car. It’s my granddaughter

Unfortunately, the extension rod portion is not the issue. Evidently, there’s an internal rod, (telescoping?) where it’s binding. I took the entire assembly off, extended it and managed to squirt enough oil that it’s better.
I did find this video diy for an R129; but, it did not work for me.
