New member and like to work on my own car but Mercedes scares me. Too many security features that make everything sketchy. Or things like I can only do through Mercedes . I live in Hawaii and Meercedes has a monopoly on everything Mercedes and they charge more than 3X what I see at all other Mercedes stores. Also i need a duplicate key made and there are no car key shops that will do Mercedes so Mercedes wants to charge $500 to $800 just for a duplicate key. Or even to have Tire Pressure sensors put in is rediculus, And no tire shops can do it because you need to code the sensors and only Meercedes has that code machine. It's too expensive for tire shops to get the one code machine just for Mercedes when all other car make can be done on a single code machine. I tried. I want to change my stereo and have done it easily with every other car I owned but mercedes has security sensores that if I dont use their system my car wont start. I don't trust any stereo shops out here because they just want your money and will say they can put in a stereo and then say they had problems and can't do it.
The dealership will not change out the stereo unless it is a Mercedes stereo, I don't want a mercedes stereo I want better!
