My name is Andy. I just purchased an 82 380sl. It was parked 20+ years ago, has a decent body, mouse house interior and the engine in pieces in the box of my truck. Lol I'm weighing out my options of buying a used engine or trying to rebuild the original.

My advice, if you can swing it, get a new engine, meanwhile rebuild the old one.
Blueprint it.
Port and polish it.
Make it a jewel in a jewel box.
