2019 A-Class 220 4MATIC 45K Mojave Silver w/ Black interior, 18" wheels
I am pleased to join the MBWorld Forum. We have downsized from our Audi A6 Quattro Prestige S Line (was a satisfied member of the "Audi World" forum as well). We have a lot to learn about the 220 so hoping forum members who currently own or have in the past will provide some tips and advice. So far, it seems like a wonderful car.
I was curious how I'd feel driving this little car after the size and power of our previous Audi A6, but its not turning out to be the letdown I feared. America does not have autobahns so what's the use of a car that can cruise at 120+ mph (I never even used the A6's 6th gear)? Ninety percent of our car's use is around town and the 220 appears to have more than enough zip for both that use as well as the U.S. Interstate system. The key to zip is use of the manual paddle shifters and higher revs than what even the "sport" mode of the auto trans offers. Funny that no past reviewers of the A Class (that I read) mentioned the manual shifting capability, even as some complained about the clunky automatic transmission. No hesitation in shifts when the paddles are used.
Then there's the 220's firm yet comfortable ride, tight handling and maneuverability (the small turning radius is remarkable), parking ease, fuel economy, etc. In short, a great small car for a empty nest couple like us for bopping around town and use for short to medium road trips.
