I’m not sure I’ve ever done the intro thread thing, I usually just start posting but figure I’ll give it a try here. Always loved the S55’s, after the W126, the W220 is my favorite S class, and the power and ABC of the S55 seemed the way to go, so the hunt began. I ended up tripping over a relatively low mile S65 and couldn’t not buy it… so here we are.
car is a 70k mile two prior owner car with service history. Bought at the end of February, been busy with home projects so I’ve put less than 2-300 miles on it so far. Its in great shape, needs some minor things like the nav screen polarizing film replaced, might have a parasitic draw somewhere (I keep it on a tender), I think some of the wheels have some bends/imbalances (noted in prior service documents). I’ll prob pull the wheels and take them into a respected local shop to see how good they can get them since the S65 wheels are so expensive and uncommon. Also has an ABC leak somewhere, if the car sits for more than two weeks the rear sags.
also bought ATF and CHF11 (though I’m going thru the CHF11, our XC90 V8 has a leak I need to repair in the pressure hose). Plan is to refresh all fluids and filters, find/fix the ABC leak, and look into replacing the ABC damper hose with a proper accumulator.
