Howto replace-interiour-filter W221(Pics)
An easy job made easier with some pics:
get the filters either orignal or aftermarket; I got these ,you need two.
Remove 2x screws with T2.5 left and right: top footwell passengers-side and carefully move the panel. There is a light +wire attached to the panel.Undo the connector from the light.
Take the panel out.
This is the panel.
Then find underneath that panel: a ribbed cover with two slides: slide open, take the cover by pulling gently towards you:
Now you can see the filters, they will will probably fall out already.
Before you remove (I forgot)attention to the arrows on the filters its the airflow direction..
How the ribbed cover looks like. You can clearly see the 2 slides to open the thing.
The hole where the filters have to get back into.
The filters in place .
To re-install the cover and panel: work instructions in inverse direction.

Which direction is correct for airflow? Inside to out or outside to in on the filters? The two kind of make a "V" shape, but I also didn't look at arrows before removing old ones.
Thanks!
Thanks!

It took me about 40-60mins. alltogether, taking the pictures and figuring out what to do.
But should take no longer then 20 minutes if you are quick. I like to take my time thought and clean everything inside and out as well(some black dust inside the box and ducts)
The filters -filter the air coming from outside to in(also called pollen filters)so to breath clean air in the cab.
I have switched the blower on, to figure out the airflow direction and to my opinion I have directed both filters' arrows to the outside of the box towards the vent-holes into the cab.

Filters PDF
Great job on thread. Simply offering info I posted Jan. 2011. I trust we are talking same filters. Mine is US 4Matic.
Attached may augment already solid instructions.
You can use eBay US to acquire fairly cost efficient filters.
WHEN ATTACHING MY PDF PICS IT TELLS ME IT'S ALREADY ATTACHED. I DON'T SEE IT. IF SOMEONE FEELS THE PICS FROM FILTER MAKER MANN WOULD BE OF VALUE, PM ME.

Very welcome everyone!
Hopefully I can inspire my fellow W221-owners to do the same for all sorts of installs and maintenance.
Especcially as this is a relatively complex vehicule ,its good to be able to get as much info(and pix)as we can..!
