Hello drivers...
Pretty exciting night for ole' me
Went for a short night time drive in the W222 and was just that much more impressed.....
I got about 45 minutes of day time driving a few weeks ago and need to get the night time experience too
car is expected in February or March......

Congrats hype!
I had my name down for a W222 and it arrived... And then the dealer sold it to someone else.
In the mean time I have been eyeing the Ghost, but price differences aside, the W222 is incredibly luxurious, technologically advanced, and it's hard to leave the MB family.

You're gonna love it hype!!! I still haven't driven one. I am loving my W221 to much to risk temptation....lol. I remember when I got into my W221 for the first time. The seats, the double-paned glass, the quiet, the comfort, even the HK sound system was better. The S is truly a wonderful beast. I love the new interior on the w222. As far as looks, I have to say I like the new look a lot, but, it hasn't dimmed my love of the w221. As you probably experienced, when driving at night time, the car almost gives a sensation of floating just above the surface. I love it!!! I know you are gonna love it too.

Did the car you test drove,have SplitView? I changed my order to remove it as the screen resolution (only half is available per side) is horrific, I couldn't imagine having my main screen look like that.

if my understanding is correct, the driver gets the whole screen when viewing from the drivers seat and the passenger the whole screen from their seat. at least that's what i understand from videos about Splitview. unless they changed Splitview which i don't think they would, I believe each person gets the full screen, not half.

Definitely looks like the cnet video was in a 221. I would imagine that Splitview would only get better with the 222. I don't think they would make it half a screen. I personally haven't seen it in the 222 but I really would be shocked if the same technology wasn't brought forward to the latest model - especially with such a huge screen.

That is how it works, but to accomplish it they use half the resolution per side, so to me it looks like an old school dual scan screen. I find it really distracting and not very sharp for a modern car.

I had it in my earlier S550, and both the driver and passenger get to see the full width and height of the screen. And I think the 2014 model is similar. Mechanically, my guess is that there is a prism overlay over the screen (kind of like those game cards that you twist to see two different images, except higher resolution). The display unit shows the driver's image on the odd numbered columns and the passenger's image is on even numbered columns, and the prism prevents the two images to be viewed at the same time (unless it is turned off). Therefore, the driver and the passenger each sees separate images, but at one-half of the horizontal resolution (unless you turn it off). If the images are likely small enough that neither viewer should notice the sharpness difference. However, the back seat passengers will see both screens intermingled and it will appear as gibberish (unless you have the rear seat entertainment system). I removed it from my build since the rear seat passengers did not like it and we used it about 10% of the time.

Steve is correct. Also, to clarify, when SplitView is off, both sides see the entire image at the full 1440x540 resolution. When turned on, a filter is applied so that each side sees a 720x540 picture.
To be honest, the resolution drop isn't that bad and I've found it to be somewhat useful since as a passenger, I can goof around and do what I need to without interfering with the driver.

421 and 445 and must haves on this car...see you got the MBC too.....
the first car I drove had MBC, but the second did not.....couldn't tell a huge difference
so I omitted that from my build.......still plenty of time to add things.....

That's what I was wondering. All my S classes have never had ABC and I always wondered if I had sold myself really short on the ride quality. On the 222, I didn't order MBC either. Did I make a mistake, or is the standard airmatic up to par?...

I had a 2002 S500 and then a 2007 S550. Both had ABC.
The benefit was not rolling whatsoever in any turn, take off, or hard braking. It was really quite an amazing feeling. I drove a few non-ABC cars and you definitely could feel the roll. It wasn't at all a bad ride, but I preferred the flat feeling.
Magic Body control takes ABC and adds a remarkable camera system that scans the road surface ahead of the car and alters the suspension to eliminate the bumps as though they weren't there to begin with.
That's going to be outrageous. We have an Audi A8L 2012 in the lineup so we didn't really require the 4matic which freed up the option of having the MBC.
Really excited! Going to pick it up this afternoon! I'll post pictures and a review! Can't wait to see how the MBC is.
