I heard back from my PA who has been in contact with MBUSA and they have stated that they will not sell the space-saver spare to anyone whose car did not originally come with that spare.
So much for that idea.
I wonder if I take out the refrigerator, with the 3D sound system, will a extra full spare fit. This would help for the long trips through "nowhereland."

You do not need to remove the fridge option. In any case you can temporarily remove the fridge when ever you want to have more trunk space. Also the fridge stands on top of the trunk floor and if there is enough space under the trunk floor, the fridge would not make any difference (other than you might need to remove the fridge when accessing the spare).
I thought the sound system took space from the side of the trunk, not from the floor but I'm not sure at all. This would anyway be "permanent loss of trunk space".

"Spare Tire Part # 2224000700 and the our computer does show it and was listed a cost of $645.00. However, there is a message that states "Suspended for Sale" does not authorize for US Market: Based on our information from Parts Assistance center, they do not offer a spare tire for this model. Now I know you mentioned you read it in the Owners Manuel: Please note that some of this information is based on European and or Canadian information, and may not apply to USA vehicles."
Buying a space saver spare - atleast from the dealer - is a no-go.

But what happens if you buy it from a parts distributor. Is that a problem? I have seen this on several websites but what confuses me is that the part number seems to be the same for my 2012. I have seen the same part number with a 155 70 19 tire which is for my 2012 and also a 185 55 20 tire which I was told was 2014. Not sure what part is below and not sure if you are allowed to use this on our cars if it were the correct tire. The last thing I want to do is use a part on my car that is not authorized by MB and voids some part of my warranty.

I think the part number for the W221 will work on our W222's. The bolt pattern is the same - my only concern is the wheel offset for caliper clearance. If I need more clearance, I have options for spacers. I'll cross that bridge when I get there...

I tried to order the tire from both of the online retailers. They said it had the correct tire size for the 2014 which was the 185 55 20 however when they went to place the order, they said Mercedes Benz did not allow the order to go through saying it was "on temporary technical hold."
I wonder if they are going to eventually come up with something...

On another note, when I added the 399 Rear Seat Package Plus to get the 2 seats in the back with the center console and the rear seat folding tables, I was not sure what color the tables were going to be.
I had only seen pictures of those tables in silk beige color and then I eventually saw one in black so I figured they were going to give me the black ones.
I didn't realize the center of those tables were leather. I was very excited to find out yesterday that as part of my custom interior package that they were willing to custom make the folding tables with the matching Auburn Brown leather.
I think that will look really great. I am really excited to see my car as I feel it is going to look and feel very luxurious. Just waiting to find out when my production date is going to come.
Hopefully soon, but I am sure not soon enough. or depending on my mood.

That's really cool to hear about the tables being leather. I always assumed they were plastic. Will look spectacular in that Auburn Brown!

Today, I got authorization to be able to change out my run flats. I just wanted to make sure I am making the correct decision so I went to the dealer to check them out and happen to just notice two S class cars right next to each other, one with SPLITVIEW and one without.
First, about the run flats.
I test drove a S class with the 19 inch run flats and then right after with the 20 inch run flats.
My impressions are that the run flats with the 19 tires are really not bad at all. In fact, I am sure I would not think of replacing them if I had ordered the 19 inch wheels.
I do think the 20 inch wheels were noticeably different with the run flats than the 19 with run flats. I am thinking of changing from the 20 inch run flats to the Dunlop tires.
I just wish I knew what the difference would be. Others have changed, but I am not certain they were the 20's.
Does anyone know if changing from the 20 inch run flats to non run flats will ride better than the 19 inch with the run flats.
Of course, I realize who could answer such a question with any degree of certainty but knowing others impressions would certainly be helpful.

Now, about the SPLITVIEW.
I thought it would be helpful to others if I showed the difference on each so I look pictures of each dash with the same image. Remember this is from a camera so it may not be exact but I think it certainly gives you the correct impressions.
Below is what I found which should give you an idea of the difference between the SPLITVIEW and not having the SPLITVIEW
SPLITVIEW
No SPLITVIEW

I am doing a custom ordered car. That being said, I was told that anyone can have it changed out because it is cosmetic and can be done at the dealer. This is the only way it can done as you can't get it from the factory. They did confirm that for the new MY 14/15, the grill can be switched out and will fit.
It is not cheap.
It comes two ways:
With Night View Assist - List price is $2,020 plus tax plus about two hours labor which at my dealer is $380.
Without Night View Assist - Price is not available yet.
I believe you can get the part about $400 cheaper on the internet. The part number is 222 880 02 83 9040 for the one with Night View Assist, but of course, this part number needs to be verified.

The 2015 S550 with he 20" multispoke wheels is now equipped with high performance tires as standard, no run flats. The MBUSA "build your own" does not mention if the car comes with the tire kit, but I suspect it does. Thanks to Chucky 300, BeanTrader and others who fought the battle against run flats on the 20" wheel!

What is true is that because of the efforts of those you mentioned, there is now an approved non run flat 20" tire that can be installed by the dealer or others once the car comes. In this case you would order the tire kit from the parts department.

That really sucks. If they are still using run flats on the 20" wheel, MB should state it. They know of the ride problem with the run flats on 20" wheels and the continue to use them? Sorry for assuming MBUSA did the right thing, the bunch of deceptive cowards!

damn your car is so loaded, it's redonk! My dream car has always been a S63 and I even question myself if it's worth it to get that or something more exotic. So far my build difference between a modest S550 was 120k and a S63 was 165k
