I love that commercial as well, but WHERE is Lisa?????
Actually, I lied. I forgot about the new 1986 Carrera Cabriolet I had. At the time, I was a purveyor of a line of items collected by the late Ralph Masterson of Masterson Porsche in Ventura, CA. We made a deal, long about 1983 and that was that I would sell him as many of these items that I was a dealer of at my cost and in return he would sell me one new Porsche at his cost. In 1986, he called and said he was going to sell the dealership and if I still wanted a car, it was now or never. So, I ordered a Guards Red Carrera Cabriolet with a full Cork Leather interior. I set it up for European delivery, as I had to be in Germany on business. However, on that February day I went to pick it up, it was snowing, with no let up in sight, so I merely signed the papers and they shipped the car.
At the time, I still had my 1979 450SL, which I got new and it had maybe 20,000 miles on it, as it was a second car. I sold it and as the woman was driving away, I said to myself "What have I done, I loved that car!" The next day, I ordered a new 1986 560SL, Signal Red with Palomino leather and sold the Porsche.
I should also tell this story about that new Cabriolet: one day, after I had just washed it, I put the top down and took it for a drive. A block from my house, someone ran a stop sign and hit a huge puddle of water that splashed all over my car. The hot sun was out and I freaked out, so I roared around the block to go home and wipe it off. I was going down this residential street too fast, when I remembered that this street had this curve in it. As I entered the turn, I hit the brakes, which in an earlier 911 is a HUGE NO-NO! The car started to spin. It spun around THREE times, all the while, by some miracle, not striking any of the parked cars on either side of the street. The car finally stopped and the engine had quit. Mind you, as the car was spinning, I was expecting a huge crash at any second. As I sat there in my stalled car, facing sideways in the street, as residents ran out to see what the commotion was, it was all I could do to keep my hands steady (I was shaking profusely), fire up the car and drive 2mph back to my house. I wiped the car off and did not drive it again for two weeks. That episode also played a part in my selling the car. I never spun an SL.
As I write this, I realize that I have twice purchased new 911's, while still having an SL in the garage. In both cases, I sold the Porsche. HMMMM. Maybe I'm telling myself something.

That's so out of control gorgeous - I love the combo of the White with the Silver Targa - (which will match the metal trim inside) against the Red!

I don't want to hijack Chucky's thread, but since you all seem to like the Targa, here are two more shots.

A lot of it is because of the moderators tbh. No one wants to admit it - but they run the place like Adolf Hitler ran Germany.
No free speech here - wouldn't be surprised if they banned me for calling them the 2 bit *****s we all know they are

You can watch the entire video - or scroll to about 2 minutes and watch. (Probably best to watch it all) . Love the music - the interaction between pops and his little girl - and the footage of the 997 C4S. It's all very harmonious.
Let's face it - Porsche has and always will make the best commercials.

Congrats on your purchase , I did the same thing as well. I treated myself to BMW i8 , I would never have thought that I could own a two door hybrid coupe and it's a BMW

WOW! Good for you Chucky300. Ihave never been a big Porsche guy. I always admired them from a far. However, I bought my S class from Paul Miller Porsche and I was able to see up close how nice those Porsches are. Congrats! Good luck!

May you have a better luck then myself.
Ordered in 2013 a 991 TTS, went crazy with options, first car at dealer so paid the full MSRP (way over $200k).
Enjoyed it a full 560 miles (daily driver) and 2 weeks after delivery, just before Christmas, was hit by a truck who claimed he did not see the White Porsche in a light snow barely covering the road (I had Winter tires of course).
Totaled and my insurance had to pay since the guy was insured for $25k.

Mostly just sick to my stomach to see what was left of a beautiful car.
Otherwise, just lots of airbag rash on my forearm, left shoulder and temple, worst were the shins hit hard by the knee bags (I'm pretty tall at 6'4" so I fill the space of a sports car more then a large sedan).
All in all, a testament to modern safety features we are now taking for granted.
A buddy of mine was hit by a KIA in his fully restored 1967 XKE Roadster on the driver side, not even that hard (about 25-30 mph).
4 years later he is still undergoing physical therapy and is essentially a wreck of what he used to be (retired Seal).

I think Porsche Red Leather interior is the only manufacturer that doesnt make it look like plastic.
Well, maybe Mercedes too - the Red leather in the S Coupe is very very nice too.
BMW Individual Red leather looks like plastic - I've seen it in person a few weeks ago at the dealership.

Call me crazy, but when I think of how unsafe those cars were, compared to what we have today, I would never feel anywhere even close to secure driving one again. There are far too many texting 16 year olds roaring through stop signs in gigantic, lifted, poorly maintained, SUV's, with nearly bald tires, overly tinted windows, the radio blasting and brandishing a "No Fear" bumper sticker, for me to ever comfortably drive one of those old fashioned cars again. No sir! Give me a modern, fully air bagged, high end piece of German engineering and then maybe I'll have a chance, should the worst ever occur.

Simple, my car was the first one in Chicago, entire allocation that Winter was sold out and I would have to wait at least until May/June (even that would be a huge favor by my dealer).
I needed a daily driver bad, was tired of driving a rental C-Class so got the new E63S that just happened to be available.
Did the Renntech thing and kept it until this April.
