Subtle Maybach updates

Mercedes is updating the grill on the Maybach, is adding a bit more chrome on the interior and adding a two tone paint option. Am undecided if I like it yet. Very subtle though...

More like a Rolls front end, I like it. Separates a little more from base 222 looks

And the two tone paint color will come in only one choice!

I like the 2-tone paint, and think it is a good differentiator vs the std S560.

Right now there are nine two-tone combos (being manually/by hand painted on request, no less).

I really like it, but it won’t fit in my garage! However, I just don’t see this as a personal car. I would feel funny driving myself around in a Maybach. I think these cars are meant to be RIDDEN in, not DRIVEN by their owners. A plain, old W222 is just fine for me.

2004 W240 Maybach 57

I like it...the vertical grill louvers and two-tone paint harken back to the W240

Wolf, how would you compare the exterior noise isolation in your new E63s vs. your previous S550?
(excluding all those wanted wonderful AMG mechanical sounds...)

Our S550 was quiet but had two issues. 1. Tire noise intrusion which was solved by replacing the run flats with conventional all seasons.
2. I had a high pitch wind noise in my left ear that nobody else could hear when sitting in different seats. That took two visits to fix. First the replaced the driver window seal and adjusted the window stop. Then the realigned the door (both on the hinge and door lock) to tighten the door seals.
That made the car much better; as expected from an S-class.

The E63 also had some tire noise intrusion but that was due to the dealer over inflating the tires coupled with a firm suspension.
But overall the cabin feels quieter and tighter than the S. I would describe that any noises I hear are lower frequency and add more to a vault like feeling. No higher pitched noise at all.

The thing I was really surprised with is the car feels nothing like a regular E-class which is overall much noisier than the S-Slass. Had plenty of loaners to confirm that.

In the beginning I also had a weird echo sound in the S-class which bothered me quit a bit. Eventually I found out that this was a sound setting to pipe the front conversation into the rear of the cabin.

It’s called “Voice Amplication”. Not sure if that feature still exists in the MY18 but I would check if that is turned off in your car.
