MBUSA is buying back my 2015 S550!!!
The saga has ended, I got a call from MBUSA this morning. They are buying back my CPO 2015 S550!! She said "After reviewing the vehicle history we have decided to buy back the vehicle". In California they contract out the buyback / repurchase logistics with a company called SteriCycle. I'm supposed to be getting a call from them in the next few days, They will pick up the car and take care of the loan payoff and pay me. Hopefully I'll get paid to correctly.... I did spend $600 on tint, $200 on the AMG center caps as well as the $245 service A that was just done. I'm happy but at the same time I'm a little bummed... Hopefully I'll find another quickly, pre-owned W222's don't sit long on the lot. Maybe I'll find a 2017 S63 .
I'll post updates as the process moves forward.
Cheers!

Don't be bummed. This is the best resolution. You would have hated that car in 6 months. Put it behind you and start your search for a really clean, CPO that has a service history you feel good about. I looked for months and the perfect situation for me and perfect car happened. Don't compromise because you anxious. I almost did on an inferior car and a friend stopped me...literally 1 day later we walked into my present car. Good luck!!

Was not expecting that. Glad it turned out right. Just like the other guy said, take those caps back. Let us know what you get. *kids cheering* S63, S63, S63, S63

Why in the world would you consider another used W222? I would think anything but...
Good luck on your next vehicle.

I have had a 2015 W222 pre owned for about a year now and they are rock solid cars. I would not hesitate to buy another one. Mine had 17K miles on it when I purchased and has around 31K now. Will probably do the front brakes in another 5K miles or so but other than that it has been a great car.

For your next purchase, make sure you get a PPI from a reputable indie shop, not from the stealership. CPO cars are not necessarily better than non-CPO's. It's all a smoke screen sometimes.

I have 96,000 on my 2015 S550. No problems so far. My 100K warrantee is just about up. I sent in a oil sample and they find no sign of excessive engine wear in the oil so , I think I will self warrantee untill I decide to trade .

I'm in the market now for a 2017+ W222, I'm sure I'll find what I'm looking for. What I do know is that I will not be purchasing a CPO vehicle from the dealership where I bought the 2015 from due to the fact that they have serious issues following the MB CPO process.... I'd buy a new one from them though. I also know that I will definitely not be patronizing their service department.......

Have you tried the Jaguar XJ Supercharged? Less electronics and not as common as S550. Same 0-60 time under 4.6 sec.

Got the offer in the other day from MBUSA via SteriCycle and accepted it. Refund in full, no mileage deduction. Full refund for ELW and Appearance package. No hassle no problems, Just taken care of professionally. Getting $19k back... Which is my downpayment on my next 550 / 560.

I dunno. You already have once. Just saying, if I had such problems with a car to an extent that the company had to buy it back, I'd try a different model or change brands before going back to the same model car again. Why tempt fate? Just an observation.

We got the E63s ED1 primarily because I liked the look and the power of the car, great fun to drive plus there are only 213 of these in the country and the deal was right.
I do like the car a lot but we will likely switch it out for something else next year.
That said, the S-class is more reliable than the W213 There is always the occasional car with issues but if you search several years of the w222 forum, there is an nary an issue. Very different on the W221 and the W213 had its share of gremlins. Nothing dramatic but not as trouble free as the S

FYI: Consumer Reports in the USA listed the S-Class in its least reliable cars list since 2014 and other years as well. Good news, it has improved somewhat for 2018. It looks like the OP is going to chance his luck on another used S550. Wish him well and hope it's a better car.

That's just your opinion and not factual. Not counting this thread where Mercedes had to buy back a S class car (nary an issue?), there are more than enough threads and posts concerning S Class car problems; considering the much fewer S class owners. The E class sells over 5 times as many cars as it does the S, so naturally the numbers will be somewhat higher for instances of car troubles on a forum. I've read about S class airmatic failures, climate control problems, transmission issues, parking brake failures, engine and so on. Not exactly "trouble free". All models have their share of problems and the S class is certainly not immune. So far, most of what I've read of fellow W213 owners, they love their cars and issues have been minimal.

I understand you have the need to tout the E-class in this forum without having specific knowledge about the S-class or having owned one yet dismissing comments from several people that have owned both.
Curious...

To say that the S class is virtually trouble free as opposed to the E is disingenuous and you know it. Hello, this thread? Is the S class a great car? You bet! Is it miles apart from all the other models? Of course not!
To continue this any further with you is pointless. You have an agenda and you won't deviate from it.
