Cheap 20HP?

I saw this product on an infomercial one night:

http://www.tornadoair.com/installins.htm

Supposedly increases fuel effiency and increase HP. Anyone ever tried this thing?

They do NOT work. If it were that easy don't you think the manufacturers would be using it.

A good intake and manifold is designed to keep the airflow as smooth and as high-flowing as possible - any turbulence will reduce power.

This thing is 100% crap - although it may actually reduce fuel consumption slightly becasue the engine will be getting less air so the motor's ECU might lower fuel flow to compensate.

The ad is misleading because there is truth to the statement that a "swirling, fast-burn effect in the combustion chamber can increase power." However, this factor is where good head/valve/piston designs come into play and not by a silly fan stuck in the intake.

Cheers, BT

The FTC has some documentation up showing the tests that they ran, why it doesn't work, etc etc. Too lazy to find it right now but those with time to kill can check out http://www.ftc.gov. (Even too lazy to make a link. )

Edit: D@mmit, it automatically turned it into a link. There goes the neighborhood.

I have one of those tornadoes, the do work, you get about
0.125 hp for your $69.
The moment you put it in you will notice a difference, but
not a big one.
I don't think its worth $69, more like $10, its just a piece of metal. and I have yet to see any mpg increase, I wouldn't buy another one!
