not sure what car you have or the what your engine bay looks like.

But any heat wraps probably NOT lower your coolant temps or oil temps. Those are controlled by the thermostat and fans.

Wrapping the intake hoses and perhaps some of the coolant or oil lines, will reduce the under hoods temps (slighlty and not worth the cost). You might be able to get an extra 1-2hp if you can keep the engine air intake cooler by 10c.

They only item that will help is wrapping the exhaust manifold or send the exhaust manifold to www.swain-tech.com or find a lower temp thermostat.

to lower under hood temps. That lowers the stress on the oil and cooling system. As well as lowering the air intake temps. Cooler air increases power. Cooler oil and coolants changes the engine timing and injection amount.

Hotter exhaust gasses also flow faster.

All in all postive things. Negative is that cheap headers or manifolds will heat rust or get brittle. I've got my Buell motorcycles headers wrapped and the turbo down pipe on my VW TDI.

Ryker,

How did the header wrap work for your engine bay temps!!!!

never really measured temp drops. But by touching the intake manifold I'd say it was alot cooler. Still warm but not as hot.

Wrap does help

I used a lot of exhust wrapping and found temps dropped noticibly.
(didnt neasure before temp though)
I used two layers and spent about 3 hours doing it.
It's ment to really help with keeping gas speeds up in turbos, cooling gasses contract and the "leading edge" slows down as this happens.
