Help with power mods for a clk430

I am looking at getting more performance out of my CLK 430. I am open to anything except for the supercharger, only because i dont have that kind of money. I do know that there are performance chips, intake, exhaust, and other little tricks to accomplish what i want. From the research I have done it seems that there are some great aftermarket manufactures but what upgrades do I need and what manufacturer to go with or combination of manufacturers. There really isnt anybody in Memphis that can help me with what i want. I do also know that some aftermarket performance upgrades compliment others. I guess what I am asking is "How do I get the most out of my 430 without the supercharger or NOS?" Or the correct question would be what would be a dream list for getting power without the supercharger or NOS. thanx alot

You are wasting your time if you don't go with a SC or NOS. Everything else you could do combined won't add up to more than 30-40 RWHP and will cost most of the price of a Kleemann or Renntech FI setup. NOS is too hard on the drivetrain IMHO because it's a very sudden hit and only a wet system is going to make a lot of power. If 11K for a blower is out your budget, then so is fixing the motor if it grenades on NOS. Hold on to your cash until you can afford the blower setup or trade up to an AMG. If you must mod the 430, Evo pulleys and software are the biggest bang for the buck, but still $$$$$.

What's your budget? Are you only looking at power or also handling?

I dont mind spending money I guess and I am interested in handling. I have 19's with michelin pilot sport ps2's. They are incredible tires at a price of 417 a tire but they corner like they are on rails. There is some body roll that I would like to get rid of. As far as th power goes I am not expecting drastic changes but I do want improvement over the stock performance. I dont mind purchasing performance parts one a time then having them all put on at once but I dont know which manufacturer to go with or a combination of manufacturers. Some after market companys offer performance parts like ecu, intake, cams, headers but they dont offer exhaust and vice versa. I do know cars and I do know what makes them go fast but I dont have experience tuning Mercedes and before I go buying parts and spending money I thaught I would get some advice from some people that have. My 430 came with the stock AMG body kit and I would like to change it as well but every kit I have seen said that it wont fit on a car that has the stock AMG kit, for example Lorinser. I am also considering a brake upgrade as well but have no clue where to start. My end goal is to have a kick @$$ 430 all the way around without supercharging. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Couldnt sleep so I thaught I would get online and do some more research. Whats this HPS SC that a I saw? I am into the $7500 price tag and the performance it gives me. Is it compariable to Kleeman and Renntech? I guess the more I think about it and the more research I do money isnt an issue. I know I said that in the beginning of the thread that I had a tight budget but that is because everybody is so quick to say "put a supercharger on or hit it with 150 wet shot and call it day." I also was thinking of the life of the engine. Dont want to kill my ride. I baught the car with 45k and it has 75k now but I do take incredible care of my car as far as the mechanical aspect. Just some more information for you guys so that you may help me to make the best decision. Remember, I am the one screwing the cat, yall are just holding the tail but giving yalls experience in screwing this particular cat I am more than sure you guys can help. Until then keep it real.

If you are thinking of getting the HPS gen2 supercharger at least read the thread on the C32AMG/C55AMG page of this website that is titled "need advice to adding more power to HPS SC" From the research I've done it appears their first gen supercharger is OK but the second gen has problems.

That thread is where I read about the HPS SC gen2. But it seems that they had worked out the problems by the end of the discussion and that the guys at HPS were ok with doing additional mods. I only say that because HPS originally said to leave the engine alone with other performance upgrades. If I missed something in the thread please let me know. I will give it another look to double check my findings. If I do go with a HPS SC setup I would most certainly contact the guys at HPS for there advice on more mods.

Im glad to see that you guys are helping me with what may seem to you guys as a NEWB question. I hate that stupid labeling. I know cars and it is my passion but just found this website last year and only decided to become a member the other week in order to chime in on the unlimited information.

thanx for the input and keep it coming, I am far from making a decision.

As far as the "are they compariable to Kleeman and Renntech" I was referring to the quality of the supercharger. I dont want to get a supercharger because it has the lowest tag and then end up causing all kinds of unwanted problems. It seems that everybody here lives by Kleeman and Renntech. The HPS SC might be a good product but how many have been really put to the test like the Kleeman and Renntech. I read that entire thread and the HPS is a different design from the Kleeman and Renntech. I understand the whole Roots and Lysholm thing. You can find 1,000 testimonies on Kleeman and Renntech but there is a whole 2 or 3 with the HPS gen2 setup. I need a little more a assurance than that and also how do they do with prolonged use?

Another tuner which offers a reasonably-priced supercharger kit is House of Power (HOP). They use a Vortech centrifugal supercharger that yields very impressive results.

Thanx HLG600. I will deffinatly look into it. Well I just did but there website doesnt offer to much info. What else do you know about what there SC offers? Stat performance? Price? Other mods needed? Anything? There website said that they made a SC for my car and all they had were 2 pics. I emailed them and I am waiting on a response, until then, still looking for options. Thanx again
