All Black Front Grille

Are there any vendors out there who make all black front grilles for the E series - rumor has it that it's guaranteed to add an xtra 10-15 horses!!! I think it'll look so good on a black E. I have thought about painting mine but am afraid that if the paint starts chipping, it'll look so bad that I'll regret ever painting it. Any info will be well appreciated. Thanks.

That's why I got Red, it's much cheaper than a Kleemann, and performs the same...

Lowryder painted the black portion of his grill silver to match his CLK's color. It looks much better.

Low rider, that's very nice. Did you do it yourself or did a shop do it for you? And BTW Jam55, LowRider's probably net him a cool 25Horses extra!!! How'd you get those laughing heads on your post?? That was cool.

He did it himself. I'd try buying touch-up paint ($15) and brushing it on... If it doesn't work out you end up at the paint shop anyways. I'd try saving the money first. Use tape to cover up the parts you don't want painted. Scotch tape isn't as good as masking tape, but it will net an extra 3 HP.

i had mine painted on my black e-class before. It looks great, but i touched it up EVERY DAY until the paint was thick and bumpy. Brabus has some special system for blacking out chrome, ask them. They might not tell you, of course.

haters crazy
I have a black grille on my 300E and I just put on some black wheels with highly polished lip. Looks amazing! I think the black grille looks wayyy better on a 300E. Dont have pics of the car with the wheels yet (Its been snowing too much lately). Maybe some time next week I will post pics. Here are some pics of the grill from about 2 years ago:

I had mine powdercoated in gloss black, cost me aboujt $100 and powdercoating is much stronger than paint. Powdercoating is used on sand rails, gym equimpent and tons of other products that are used in harsh enviorments.
