E420 W210 - any engine tuning possible?
Dear forum,
i am looking for an easy tune-up of the engine that will not set me back more than the car is worth, but give some noticeable change in performance.
I have read about people putting a compressor on an E320 engine, drastically boosting the power. Can i do something similar with my engine (believe code is M119)?
if i had $10grand to spare of course i would do custom Kleemann camshaft & full exhaust upgrade, but if you can read between the lines... am looking for something less invasive on my wallet. As i am in Germany i hope to easily find parts you'd recommend.

There are a few products that would allow you to mess with the fuel and ignition timing. I am almost done with a turbo build on my M104 L6 powered E320. I have an ignition and fuel controller wired up and theres no check engine lights so far!! If the OBDII trys to cancel my fuel settings the controller catches it and cancels that out keeping my settings so theres no problems there. My total cost is less than $2500 so that might be an option. Your V8 has an even higher compression so you'd need low compression pistons but if an 18 year old kid can do it you can.
Also you could make your own exhaust. Have an exhuast shop fab a 2.5-3" exhaust for you. If you buy all the hardware; like a CAT, resonator if you need one, and a muffler; the shop can do it for a pretty low price(here in the states it cost me $200 including a custom Y-pipe they fabbed for me on my old 300e)
Back onto the timing control. You could use two MSD DIS-4's to advance your timing or retard it if you chose the turbo route.
