What a joke!

You'll never ever find better catalytic converters than those that came on your car.

They ain't $2K each for nuthin'.

'merikun iron hot rod tricks are irrelevant to German cars and accomplish zip/zero/nada.

could be a gamble. i have the secondary cats removed on my car, and I am also looking to go to highflow cats, i'm guessing the safest way would be just to use o2 simulators inplace of the factory sensors so you won't trip the dreaded CEL or check engine lights.

If you substituted the word "quieter" for "better", then I think your statement would probably be correct. But if you are referring to performance, HFC's would almost certainly be an improvement.
However, even with ceramic, the engine will be significantly louder under acceleration. You also run the risk of throwing a CEL.

and no, I would be very hesitant to buy these; I have never paid less than $500 for HFC's. The price on these just seems too good to be true! (= cheap!)

little to no gain from stock AMG cat to aftermarket, unless your stock cats are clogged. Keep in mind these are a complete biatch to get to and labor is gonna get you for more than the cats are worth. I don't know for a fact if the stock AMG cat is different from that of the SLK320, but I assume they would be. Good luck finding a muffler shop to touch them too! 6 out of 10 refused to touch them, the rest said why bother, since the AMG ones are already high flow, and high quality (they actually REFUSED BUSINESS!!) Parts and labor were roughly $500-600!! I went with just the secondaries deleted, res deleted, AMG muff, and I get a little metallic rasp under hard acceleration. Might be due to the aluminium/steel pipes used instead of thick SS piping.
