Boost Kit for New 1.8
Any body have info on a crank pulley kit for the new kompressor motor M-271. I just talked to Renntech 2 days ago and they said it will be another 3 weeks at least till they have one availible. I was wondering if anybody has information on this or other upgrades for the new 1.8 cause i love this car it just needs a little more power. any info is appreciated. thanks guys.

Thats probably right, the first time i called they told me it would be the end of march. Im thinking about just making my own boost kit. It would probably be cheaper and faster.

If you know what you want, send ASP the corresponding factory pulley and they'll make you one in any diameter you want or if it's the crank pulley they can fabricate a ring for it so that you don't lose the factory damper. They already make pulley kits for the C230K 2.3L (coupe and sedans) , SLK230 (all years), SL55, E55, SLK32 and C32.
Do you have an idea of what Renntech is doing, changing just one pulley or 4 and by how much? My guess is that they will make a larger crank pulley like on the 2.3L using the factory pulley with a ring but then give you a larger waterpump, power steering, a/c, alt pullies to correct the speed on those or some of those. This should be a pricy kit, don't count on it being only $1,600 from Renntech like for the 2.3L, it may likely be about $2,000 like the C32 kit with 3 pulleys.

Everytime Car & Driver or Motor Trend does one of those megabucks comparison test. Renntech almost always failed to finish (or start for that matter), one editor was killed while testing a Renntech a few years back. I'd like to see them finish the comparison test at least once before writing them a check. Plus, they don't seem any less expensive than Brabus, if I have to part with my money I'll still go for Brabus or even Kleemann or stay stock.

Cant you tell me more about this ASP thing and how i can get ahold of them. Mabey I'm just missing something but I not sure what everybody is talking about when they refer to ASP.
The only thing renntech said was that they do the same thing as AMG but im not sure, what that is cause i didnt know AMG had a boost kit availible.

Thanks for the information, I'll give ASP a call this week and let let you guys know what I'm gone to do. I also started playing around today after work and I might do some of my own testing with some of the engine sensors to see if I can get any kind of small gain similar to ME programing. I pass that on too if its any good.

You still in Lancaster? I am down in York and just noticed another fellow MB owner near me. You are the first this close that is on the forum that I have seen. We should get together sometime and see what we can do to bring these 2003's up to 2002 pulleyed performance levels. Why should the 2002 owners get to have all the fun.

Hey whats up, Thats cool your near by. I work at the dealer in lancaster so if you you stop over I can hook you up if you need any warrenty work or mods. I got one mod right now i developed this week thats working pretty good already. Today I installed clear corner lenses and they're pretty sweet. As soon as I get a chance im gona go to the drag strip and see what I can get done with it. I'll be over to the circut with my friends next time its good weather too mabey I'll see you there.

Mercedes benz of lancaster is right off manhiem pike in lancaster, From york take 30 east to lancaster and get off at the manhiem pike exit. its like 30-45 min. drive. Did you drive the circut in york yet? Thats a cool thing to do on the weekends.
