Evosport Product Feature: PDA Dyno
#51
We are taking 3 vehicles to Bandimere Speedway this evening (G55K, E50K and CLK43K)- we will test the 0-60, 1/8 and 1/4 mile accuracy of the PDA Dyno at the track. Results will be posted tomorrow.

Hey Brandon-
You guys missed my last run at 8:00pm. I ran the following:
60' 1.965
1/8 - 8.298
mph - 85.82
1/4 - 12.921
mph - 106.32
I finally ponied up and got a decent launch
What was the trap speed on the G-wagon again? I really wish I could have seen that one run. Someone even took a video of my last pass too!!

Sorry- I got a bit busy with other things. In any case Ill have to scan the slips on Monday- but my best time with the E50K (78 F, 32% RH, 5280 ft above sea level, traction control ON and 4.5 psi of boost) was 13.599 at 104.7. My reaction times were garbage for the most part- I pulled of a .517 once, most others were .7xx+.

We will do a bit of tweeking with the ECU this week (hopefully) and Ill defeat the ESP, better times perhaps. Next time we go I'll have a 2002 E55K along as well :v

Measure Horsepower and Torque
Measure 0 to 60 times
Measure 1/8 mile time and speed
Measure 1/4 mile time and speed
Display Fuel Economy (MPG)
However it does look very similar. I am not going to cancel my order since the above is very important to me....can't wait until they are ordered.

Erik,
You are correct. The version from Auterra is only a scanner. The Nology PDA-Dyno incorporates those features as well as the ones you just mentioned.
Thanks,
Ben

At a glance, I don't see these features in that product:
Measure Horsepower and Torque
Measure 0 to 60 times
Measure 1/8 mile time and speed
Measure 1/4 mile time and speed
Display Fuel Economy (MPG)
WHO CARES! a 5 dollar stopwatch will tell you this info. and as far as fuel economy, this feature is already built into our cars. if you want to know how fast your going, LOOK AT THE DIGITAL SPEEDO

Just got mine last night....
BEST PRODUCT EVER!!!!
Wow, I am so impressed!
The kit was well put together and very easy to setup. The PDA holder works really well, even with my large PDA. The software is great and small (2xxkb). The manual is easy to read and in .pdf format.
I was fooling around with it on my way to class, the graphs looked real neat. I need more time with the program to actually get some use out of it.
Thanks a million, I should have gotten this much sooner.

You can do calculations in your head...why ever use a calculator?
If there is a device that does the work for you, pick it up.
And for the MPG...thats great if you only own one car. I have several cars and most do not have a MPG gauge including my 1998 SLK.

every car has a mpg guage. you simply take the amount of miles you drive and divide the amount of fuel you put in it at the pump. you should have learned this in high school. as for mach430 re-read the post and you will see what i was commenting on.

All the PDA likely measures is the time it took for the speed sensor to reach a certain speed value. It then calculates things like HP from the other variables you put in. For example, here's one formula that works for some using 1/4 mile times;
hp = weight / (ET / 5.825)**3
For example, my car with me in it, full of fuel, some odds and ends probably weighs about 3,600 and my ET was 14.7, that would come out to 224 HP, fairly close considering I got 193HP at the wheels. Another formula using trap speed is;
hp = weight * (speed / 234)**3
Using this formula for a bone stock C230K that hits about 88 mph at a 1/4 miles would have 191 HP.
So yes, a person can measure his times with a stopwatch with pretty good accuracy and with some simple calculations get HP as close as any handheld gadget because that's all the gadget is doing, using formulas to calculate HP based on speed vs. distance.

It is sad how hard some people will stretch trying to prove a point when all factors point in other direction.
Do me a favor, instead of putting down something based on your assumptions (which have no merit), having never seen or spoken with anyone who has used it, go out and try it for yourself. There is a 30-day money-back guarantee! At least this way you can at least say after using the pda-dyno that you didn't like it to counter the opinions of everyone WHO HAS ACTUALLY USED IT on mbworld saying that they do. Heck, you can even purposely enter in the parameters wrong to get incorrect results. The bottom line is, so far everyone who has tried it, likes it.

well then if you are so sure of the product, then send me one on your dime. let me have 30 days to evaluate it, and then i will send it back to you.
is what i am saying is that for most people the info this thing gives you is useless, and they wouldnt know what to do with it anyway. as for the other features, you can simply buy a g-tech or the new product from escort to do the same things. if you want to calculate hp or torque, then make a run and do the math.

That's just like a G-Tech, it estimates power based on how many G's you pull. Maybe I should play your game and say that instead of that, you should get a Valentine 1 radar system, and calculate HP based on how many cops try to radar you.![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
For the last time, THE PDA-DYNO CALCULATES HP/TORQUE BASED ON ACTUAL READINGS FROM THE CAR (SPEED, GEAR RATIO, TIRES, AMBIENT PRESSURE, TEMPERATURE, RPMS, MPH, ETC). The product has multiple features that make up the whole.
Now seriously, both your and Carl's arguments from the beginning, were centered around there being no way that this can be accurate. Time and time again it has been proved accurate for you. Give it a rest. Perhaps you could spend your time more efficiently by attempting to convince people to buy car's with out air conditioning. After all, you can always lower the window. But is that an equal substitute?
Thanks for ruining this thread with all of your
