outside air temp and HP on a FI Engin?
How much outside air temp effects HP on a FI engin? I live in Texas now so it was like 110 in the summer....used to leave in michigan and I remember -40 ....thats right -40 F and C are the same! (of course in the winter)

Air densitiy and power are proportional, given that the air intake is dimensioned correctly.
Standard temperature for performance is 68 °F / 20 °C, being an absolute of 293 K (=Kelvin).
20 °C / 36 °F more are thus decreasing the power by 7 % (0.2 % per °F).
The v-max stays the same, though, since drag is also proportional to air density.

I can't get as technical as Cessna340, but I know it does affect to the extend that you'll feel your car a little slower in the Texas summer and much quicker when the cool temps arrive. Actualy I can't wait for the end of october, it will be nice for our cars oct thru march-april
