Hi Guys,

As I have just joined and as this is my first post, I would like to say hello to all the members.

I have recently purchased a new E200 Kompressor with the 1.8 engine. I have noticed that a company called Mercedes-Performance in Watford, England do a D.M.S (serial port) tuning program and that they claim a +40Bhp Power and + 30Nm Torque increase.

Please can anybody give me any information on this company, if they have had this modification and if they would recommend this in any case!

They are asking for £934.15 Inc Vat for the modification, is this a fair price and or can anybody suggest an alternative company?

They seem to sell the German Väth kit which is not bad to begin with. Solid package, especially with the larger intercooler. However, I do not know how well they install this, and what warranty they may give you.

A chip will not cause a 40 hp increase. This must be a pulley kit with a chip. And even that would be hard pressed to cause a 40 hp increase.

chip 'n pulley
The Mercedes Peformance kit is based on a larger crankshaft pulley (also see Vaeth.com), as is the H&S kit (their website is deceiving, they hint in small print that "mechanical parts" are part of the deal).
However, adding a chip to the pulley can help squeeze a few more horses, maybe 5-10, out of the package by re-setting ignition timing and forcing more fuel at high rpms.
I have all three (incl. larger intercooler) on my 230K.

Hi guys,

I have gone for the VATH V18k III conversion. 225Bhp and 320Nm Torque. Engine Re-Map, Kompressor Upgrade and Pulley Kit, Sports filter and LLL Intercooler kit.

The car feels like as fast as my brothers E 320, the Torque is incredible. The best of all is that my company car tax and C02 levels have not increased and yet I am driving around in a car with simular performance to an E 320.

I know this is strange to the U.S guys, but in the U.K I would have had to pay an extra £2,400 GBP (Net) over the Std E 200 Kompressor to the Tax-Man `every single Year`, for the next 3 Years. This way I will have paid for the conversion in just 18 Months and also saved a fortune.
