if your engine can handle the extra 27-35HP, y doesnt the car manufactor give u these extra power when u bought the car?
also.. just like a computer. when it said 2.0mzh gig and u overclock it to 2.9mzh, doenst that make the CPU runs hotter and easier to get damage??

Very poor analogy, the extra HP coaxed out of your car can not be compared to overclocking a computer.

Remember there are a number of factors a manaufacturer takes into account when programming the computer, compromise between gas mileage and performance, how well is the car going to be maintained, emissions, yes engine longevity, emissions systems life, properly handling 87 octane if the customer uses it instead of 93, etc.

Will a new chip reduce the life of your engine? There are a number of factors that come into play, how well do you maintain your car, how do you drive it, etc. Will you keep your car long enough to tell if the chip effected your performance?

I would not hesitate to upgrade your ECU, just be sure to purchase from a reputable company and the implications of making a change.

I was looking at getting powerchip's 93 gold on my clk430 and was looking at the powerchip site to see the actual numbers. The thing that worried me is that powerchip claims a stock clk430 does 0-60 in 7.7 and w/ the 93 gold powerchip it does it in 7.2 First of all, i KNOW my car does 0-60 in less than 7 seconds and it is stock. Does anyone else find this weird?

Not weird... if the chip maker makes a conservative claim, then the customer will be happy if it meets or beats the claims.

If they make claims that are not met in all cases, then some people will be po'd.

Sounds like you have a good-running car, congratulations.

You make it sound like i think my car is faster than it is. All the 0-60 numbers that i have seen for a clk430 have been either 6.0 or 5.9 7.7 is WAYYYYY off, thats almost 2 seconds for a 0-60 time.

Could it be a typo? That sounds like the 0-60 time for a CLK320.
