Chip tuning and long term reliability
I am considering a chip tune for my 2014 S550 4matic M278. My concern is the engine and driveline components. Are the engine internals, the transmission, and the rest of the driveline up to the added power? What is the risk of hitting the gas one day and killing the transmission, breaking a connecting rod, or frying a piston (for example)?
I have always assumed that the S63 has more robust internal engine and driveline components than the S550. If this is true, aren't they needed for long term reliability?
Thanks!
Do you warm up and cool down the car before and after having fun? Change the oil regularly? These are all things that go hand in hand in keeping the car on the road and out of a shop.
Thanks once again and all the best for the holidays.
