Question W211 E320 ChipTuning Help

Hi All!

I've decided to dive down the ECU tuning rabbit hole, and I'm making good progress but could do with a little help from the wonderful folks here.

I’ve purchased Total Car Diagnostic TOAD LINK! which includes a lot of great diagnostics and data logging software, along with their edition of the ECM2001 tuning software, which is pre-loaded with a load of drivers for different makes and models.

I’m having a bit of an issue with the drivers on it though, as they all seem to be missing the descriptions, and the driver descriptions button is greyed out. So while I have a whole bunch to choose from in the Mercedes E class and Chrysler Crossfire directories, I can’t work out which is which without trial and error! Bear in mind that this is the download version from their site and I am awaiting my physical copy in the mail shortly.

No descriptions on the driver files

Driver info button disabled

I haven’t purchased them yet, but I will shortly be purchasing either a KESS V2 or KTag kit as both of these seem to support the Bosch ME2.8 ECU on the M112 E32 engine.

So for you lovely people, if I can ask (for my Christmas present?!):

- Does anyone have, or know who does have ECM2001 drivers for ME2.8 ECUs (from any car!)?

- Does anyone have, or know who does have Damos / A2L’s / Map Packs for M112 (preferably E32!) engines?

- Does anyone have any recommendations for me regarding either the tuning hardware or software that I should be looking into / investing in?

Thank you so much in advance to all of you, for all of your help, and I hope that you’re all having a great Christmas holiday!

Alex

Hello Mate,

Thanks for the message. I'm afraid that I haven't got much further on this one, and I've actually had to mothball this project for a little while, but I will get back to it hopefully later this year.

If I find anything out in the meantime, do let me know, and likewise, if I find something I'll be sharing it!

What do you need nicob? Diagnostics tools? Tuning software or hardware? ECU info?

Let me know and I'll see what I can do

I want to be able to tune my car for better throttle response and more power through the obd port.

Hi nicob,

I'm afraid that I havn't looked to much into these models, so I'm not the one to help you with the technicals.

I'm not sure how advanced you are at tuning / ECU flashing etc, but not all ECU's can be remapped via the OBD2 port.

As far as I'm aware your CLS63 should have a Bosch MED17.7.x series ECU, and I don't think (but I may be wrong) that it can be remapped via the OBD2 port, instead you'll need to bench it - take it out of the car and wire into it.

Best place to start would be with the CLS guys here! Good luck, but beware, it can be a bit of a rabbit hole!

Thanks, that is what I figured. So these tuning box companies who claim power and torque increase through plugging in obd chips are all scams.

I've heard good things from Skoda owners about RaceChip products. For what I believe is your model see:

I am glad you mentioned Race Chip. I currently have this for my car but wanted to add another chip to the obd port for better throttle response. Now I won't bother with the obd chip anymore. Maybe my AMG mechanic who is a friend of mine can improve throttle response with his STAR system. He stated there are some parameters he can work with.
