Just placed my order with Mike @ Evosport: 1-888-520-9971;
charge is 20% discount over the $379 special price or $303.20 plus shipping. (If I recall correctly, this udp set was almost $500 3 or 4 months ago).
Can't wait. With this kit we should realize our hp gains at lower speeds as opposed to the hp gain realized after installing almost any performance chip, which can be felt only at higher speeds.
C280Sportster -- a C43 is never fast enough -- that is, the factory compromise can always be improved upon.

I will have mine on Wednesday (not the group buy but a fellow member sold his to me - he never got around to install and sold car). Anyhow, wondering
if I should wait till the weekend or just install on Wednesday...... I think Wednesday it will be.

How is the powerchip? Did you notice a difference or have a dyno?
To ALL:
I'm planning on changing the pulleys myself, anything I should look out for (I wish I had the Mercedes repair manual!)?

I think the PowerChip on my C280 made a world of difference. I drove it a few days before really noticing a lot (maybe ECU needs time to adjust). All I know is there is an increase (I would estimate their claimed 15hp/tq to be correct). I feel it more at lower rpms off the line and at wide-open-throttle. Don't flame me folks but I think it was money well spent!

![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I backed out of the install today (meetings all day) plus a hot engine bay. I
will install Saturday morning. I'm using the EvoSports but wasn't part of the
group buy (another member sold me his he never installed). Anyhow, is there
anything to look out for when doing the install? I have a pulley puller from
my neighbor. Thx.

Which way do the bolts turn to remove? Just about to go outside and do the
job (it's 92 or so and plenty humid), or may start in the morning. I have a
pulley puller from my neighbor. Thanks.

Anyone do a Renntech pulley upgrade? Any comparisons?

Yep, I feel a difference. I feel mainly off the line is quicker and feel it was
money well spent for the gain.

I think this and the PowerChip is the cheapest combo mod with the best
bang for the buck.
The only mods I'm doing at this point are the H&Rs and 17" wheels......
Can't find much performance stuff for the C280 unless there's a supercharger kit and I don't want to spend $$ as I'm paying for two-kids four year college tuition.

introduce your kids to financial aid....
and student loans.....then get the supercharger!
I mirror those statements on the pulleys and powerchip. I wish I could find a stock 430 to drive now and compare back to back.

Just put the Evo-Sport light-weight under-drive pulley set on my car. It took the mechanic quite some time. He also had to buy three tools: a set of flat pulley wrenches; a pully puller; and a puller installer. (He had just set up the shop that I helped him to buy). Other than waiting for the tools it was not too hard, water pump pulley being the worst. (I also replaced the C43 belt tensioner at the same time -- had to pay the local Stealership $230 total for the part -- I could have got it for $50 to $70 less if I had time to phone around and wait for UPS delivery but, we were in the engine already, so what the hell.
Engine is definately more responsive; it acclerates to high rpm with much less effort and noise. I have to wait for the ecu to adapt to the change and take it on some "test" runs (no time to do so tonight). The mechanic tells me the tranny will adapt favorably to the change and, because of the higher rpm's, will shift more aggressively.
Havn't done the chip yet. Not sure if it's really worth it -- $840 for Powerchip and this mod has mixed reviews. I love hear from those who have done this mod and love it.
Thanks,

2004 CLK500, 78 6.9,
I've done this mod and I love it! I got it done at Evosport (Thanks, Mike Wislon!) At first I didn't dig it, but then I guess my ECU picked up on what I did and it's all vroom vroomy now! Wow, did I just say that? I mean, the RPMs just fly up there. I did have one minor problem though..
After about 3 weeks or so, my power steering starting going WAAAAAAAAARGH when it was cold. I called up Mike and he said to bring it over and he'd check it out. My concern was that even though my car was under warranty, if they'd check out the power steering pump, they would either deny a warranty claim because i put a pulley on the pump, or they'd replace the pump and pulley, and I'd lose my underdrive pulley, the belt wouldnt fit.. it would be a big mess. Anywho, I'm driving into my dealership to get something from the parts department and my service guy hears the power steering noise, and they top off my steering fluid, no questions asked, and the problem is gone. Service guy says sometimes on new cars like mine, some of the nooks and crannies the fluid is supposed to get into gets little air pockets which come out eventually and the fluid level drops a bit. So it should be cool, I hope.
