"Chipped" E55 Dyno Results
Had car chipped with "unichip" and dyno'd yesterday.
Dyno is Aust Dyno Dynamics, seems to read lower than Dyno Jet that you guys seem to use. Manufacturer reckons on 30% hp loss to rw which is bs. Bottom line is saw 16KW (22hp) rear wheel improvement.
However I do have comparative graph off same dyno/operator etc for 300KW (approx 410hp) HSV GTS. This is GM's local performance division. Based on best selling family 4 door with HSV/Calloway modded LS1 chev motor, similar to Z06.
I will post the graphs later if anyone is interested, but I have to reload drivers for scanner. Win2K keeps crashing, every time I try to scan, with a stop error. Damn Microsoft
However interesting thing is car makes more rwhp than this car upto 5500rpm and only 5 less @6000 (which is where HSV produces peak power) differences are E55 +45hp @2500-4000 rpm, +30hp@4500rpm, +10hp@5000rpm, 0@5500rpm, -5hp@6000rpm.
I have to take the car back next week because hopefully will have new AMG ECU and guys didn't finnish job. They reckon it took most of the day to work out all the inputs for the ecu baceause unichip is a piggyback computer that intercepts fuel/ignition etc signals and is programmed on dyno to each car and they hadn't done a Merc before. I am hopefully of another 10KW (15hp).
Chipping definately works. This mod cost me $1500AUD ($800US) and can simply be unplugged from car to return to standard.

ones too fast according to CHP!
Sounds cool.
Stephens - be careful and make sure you re-test in a few months. The UNIChips have a habit of reverting to stock after a while on the OBDII cars. This is fairly random too. No real time guidelines. This has happened with more then one car we have tuned. That is one of the reasons we stopped using it on 1996+ cars.
Thanks
Brad

Thanks for the tip. Is this a function of the self learning on the std ECU? Do you know if it happen to all cars? If this is the case, I could get the changes that have been mapped burnt into a new chip I suppose.

It is completly a function of the 'self-learning' emissions bull-**** that is built in to the ECU. The UNIChip is a good product in general. I really believe this is something that is un-related to the UNIChip itslelf and is more a problem inherent in the vehicle electronics! This is the problem that we are facing over the last 8 months with MB tuning! ;^(
Just have it checked in a few months and if it is as strong then you should be cool!
Thanks

I haven't had the car re-dynoed, but the G-tech pro is still spitting out the same numbers. haven't been on the board since I bought a new Ducati 999 in Jan abd have been spending all my spare time on the race track.
I've lost interest in the current E55, but am taking delivery of the W211 next Wed so you should see a lot more of me on the board!
