2021 AMG GT53
I just bought a 2021 AMG GT53 and I am super excited. Before I get into my questions, let me make one thing clear. Please do not start with the “do not waste your money, just buy a real V8” comments lol. I would love to, but I just ended up with the 53.
I previously had a 2019 S560 that was fully loaded. A BMW hit me and ran, which ended up totaling the car. I worked incredibly hard for that car and it was my dream for a very long time, so losing it was rough. Now that I am in the GT53, I have a few questions about mods.
First, the AMG drive select knobs on the steering wheel. I really wanted them but the car I bought did not have them. I have seen online that you can purchase the knobs separately and install them without replacing the entire steering wheel. Is that actually true? Do you have to get it coded? and has anyone here done it? I live in NYC so if it does need to be coded then I can make that work because I know a lotttt of shops around.
Second, I would like to do some performance mods since these cars are pretty heavy and tend to feel a bit slow. Does anyone have recommendations for mods or tunes that work well on the GT53?
Thanks for the help everyone.

Quick tune: CPC_NG, unlock seed key, there are a few performance tweaks in there for quicker torque, slight HP increase, body control/suspension/steering one button clicks. Def get some pep out of it. Real talk tho... not much easy mods to get more HP out of this model. They already designed it practically max. Stay away from anything more than a conservative tune if you go that route. Turbos are known to go bad on these. You can get a cheap blow-off valve for like 100 bucks, it's really just a gap in your air system, so you might get a tad lag on boost, but it sure does sound better. Some complain, I haven't noticed an issue. Get a high flow air filter, not KNN, I found it through renntech? I think? different brand, but same design concept.
If you want real hp, you can get like 650, if you upgrade the turbo and get a performance tune. BUT... I think you need to run 95 or higher octane, meaning you will need to carry around racing fuel with you and do the math when you fill up. Like I said, not much you can do to max it as it pretty much already is...
For your steering wheel upgrade, I don't know about the plug and play ability... You def will need to enable it, probably in your IC213 or HU, or probably both. Not sure really, but many things can be natively enabled on this model. It really depends on the pathway of integration for that addition. Does it require an ECU? Where is it enabled? Do you need to enable it downchannel from other ECU's? This stuff you will have to figure out. But hey congrats on the purchase! I LOVE mine.
A few things you can get for free if you got a China C6 and DTS Monaco:
Disable Start/Stop
Enable Android Auto and/or Apple Carplay
Intelligent Lighting (headlights)
Performance Bump
Expanded lighting and Energizing Comfort
More control over features with your Head Unit
Enhanced Driver Assistance features
Enhanced Parking Controls
HD Maps
Overide Exhaust Flap
Upgraded Sound/Profile options
Climate Control Upgrade
Raise Lower overall curb height
All these depend on what control modules you have installed, and the build sheet of the car.
If your android auto or apple carplay doesn't work, hmu, I can walk you through how to enable it. Super easy fix (if your software / VCI is up to par).
