Evosport Underdrive pullies

Okay, now I'm really confused...someone please help me out here...
I recently ordered from Evosport the underdrive pullies for my CLK240. among a set of 3 pullies, one of them was a Power steering pulley. I happily took them to my mechanic only to be told that he could not fit the PS pulley coz he didn't have the puller to remove the old pulley. I then posted on MercedesShop forum and was readily helped. I was told the pulley was not designed to be removed. The PS pump comes with the pulley installed, so no seperate part number. Why would Evosport sell me a pulley that wasn't designed to be replaced? Yet, everyone who's installed these says its a snap.
Plus, being underdrive pullies, aren't the pullies supposed to be smaller in size? I was surprised coz both new alternator and PS pullies were slightly larger and the belt provided was slightly longer. Is this the way it should be or am I just missing something?
Help!!?? please??

The pulley from ps should come off with a puller or remove the whole ps pump and than remove the pulley(thats what i did), the pulley's are larger and the belt is longer.

Most powersteering pulleys, including yours, have a press on pulley that require a special puller to remove them. Find the tool and you'll have a finished install.

Smaller accessory pulleys would not underdrive your components, they would spin them faster and thus overdrive them (requiring more engine power to spin).

It does come off but a true pain. I had a friend remove it from his shop and
it took a few hours. He didn't have to remove the PS but said it was on there. Also, I think the size and weight of the EvoSport is different. So to answer
your question: No, you're not missing anything. It's well worth the struggle......

Guys, I really appreciate your inputs.
I guess I'll have to try find the tool. My mechanic is a by-the-book type mechanic, and he doesn't want to mess with my car incase something goes awry. He calls it my million dollar ride, and something about risk and a ten foot pole Any ideas where to get the pulley puller? I reckon it would be a generic puller that shouldn't cost too much?

I know Snap-on makes a pulley puller that works, however I am not sure of the correct part number and price. Before buying a puller, make sure you are buying one that will get the job done.

209MAD: Yes, Power Steering pulley is a pain. Unfortunately, there is only one way to remove it. You will need a puller kit. Use http://www.kd-tools.com, they have a puller set Part No. 2897 that will work on your CLK. Good Luck!

I believe it is under $100. Most mechanics, working on today's cars should have it. A lot of OEMs went to press on pulleys 6-8 years ago.

So that's half the battle, removing the pld PS pulley. How about putting on the new one? Do I need a press too? Or does the puller double as a pusher as well? Thanks!

The tool is both puller and installer.

Thanks for the info. I checked out the tool with kd tools, it was 250 bucks! I may try to find another way to get this installed. Or find another mechanic who can and will...
