Last week I took my '96 S320 into a shop where my son works. They have a relativly new Fuel injection cleaner. They hook up like a IV drip line into a Vacumme line I beleive. It cleans out your whole system I'm told. Anyway then you add a can of cleaner with a fill up. My car has 112000K and has not run this smooth in a long time. It isn't to pricey and it seems to work quite well. Just wanted to share !!! maybe its old news to you but worked so well I has to share it with you all.

I did this on my 300E. It made a huge difference but one potential problem is ruining your catalytic converter.
