R320 cdi

I saw an R320 cdi this past Saturday, I didn't know they were available here yet. It was parked in front of a restaurant on Scenic Hwy 98 in Miramar Beach (Destin) FL.

Probably pre-production and someone from the factory on vacation for the holiday weekend. I saw a few over that way while out the condo for the weekend last summer and before the release date.

E-class E300e Estate, Sprinter (stretched limo)
Why on earth are they holding back on this model??? You could not get the 320CDI 211 estate, now they are holding back on the R-class diesel??

Although from what i've heard the R320CDI will run on both low and non-low-sulphur just fine. if i could remember where i'd read that, i'd link it. isn't the bluetec the only one that REQUIRES low-sulphur.

Nope, the new V6 needs the new 15 PPM diesel to run its cleanest and not destroy the particulate filter. I'm sure it will run on the old stuff but not for long.

I'm personally not disagreeing with you, Germancar, but here is my source

http://www.curtrich.com/august2006.html

2007/2008 Diesels
You might want to take notes. There will be a pop quiz.
This fall the 2007 Mercedes-Benz diesels will be released. The E320 BLUETEC will have generation 1 BLUETEC, as described above. This will be a 45 State car. It needs the new “clean diesel” fuel (which should be a moot point when it comes out).

The ML320 CDI and R320 CDI will have the new engine but with current Common-rail Direct Injection technology. The generation 1 BLUETEC SCR catalyst will not fit due to the 4-matic transfer case. These will be 45 State trucks. They will not be harmed by inadvertent use of the old “dirty” diesel.

In early 2007 the GL320 CDI will be introduced with CDI technology. It, too, will be banned in California and the four states that copy California. It, too, will burn both fuels.

In late 2007 the 2008 ML, GL, and R350 BLUETECs will be introduced with generation 2 BLUETEC, involving AdBlue. These will be 50 state legal. They will require “clean diesel.”

Well I don't think "inadvertent" use of the old diesel will hurt either, but MB must be holding the new V6 diesels back for a reason. I wouldn't risk it either way.
