I asked MBUSA to clarify "if so equipped" on the passenger volume controls and earphone jacks. Here is the reply:

You are absolutely correct. If the 2006 R-Class is equipped with either
the Entertainment Package (320), or Premium Package (326, which includes
the Entertainment Package), it will have the rear audio control.

Thanks you for your response. Could you please clarify the term (if so
equipped). Does this mean that if you select either Option Code 320 or
Code
326, that rear passengers will have individual volume control, and the
earphone outlets and control knob will be located on the rear of the front
center console in the vicinity of the climate control buttons?
