AWD. With the lower profile, the R may be but with the retuning of the suspension it would be a guess at this point. Just have to wait for the test results and reviews.

Yes. See the details at GCF site. "Power is transferred by an AMG SPEEDSHIFT automatic transmission with steering wheel gearshift paddles and a DIRECT SELECT shift lever.

I wanna play with the W221 NAV and see how it compares to the NAV on my TL and Odyssey. I am sure it will blow the Honda/Acura NAV out of the water since its a 20GB hard drive lol.

I agree with the "apparent" color being fantastic.

But, looking at the AutoSpies pictures the same car is Tectite Gray, perhaps with a granite tint. The images above look to me like a color balance problem from the showroom lighting which adds that bronze look to the exterior pictures. I may be wrong but I don't think they showed two AMG R classes cars. The other R shown was the SWB Euro model R.

Someone at MB paint lab should get busy and mix up a batch of that "bronze" color paint and bottle it...:-)

I actually don't think that color is a color offered yet. I think it is a special color that MB has been using with their concepts, that is of special paint... I could be wring though, regardless beautiful color...

Same color was used on the 030 Performance Package pictures of the SL55, CLS55, SLK55 on another forum or something. Some say its a Designo Graphite, and some are just not sure.

The paint process for the Vision cars is called Alu-Beam and is a much finer droplet and method for applying the paint. It is not yet in production but I understand will be available on the new S as a paint option somewhere along the line. Cost figure I saw was in the $2-4000 dollar range. But I am convinced the "bronze tint" on the above pictures is from the overhead show lighting and the real color is a Graphite Gray.

I never heard of Graphite Gray. Is this a new color? Is it available yet?

That is my name for it Jack...and others have indicated "graphite" to describe the paint color. The darkest gray for the current R Class is Pewter as far as I know.

Anyone at all know about the due date for this R 63? I am assuming Sep o6 as 2007 models....anyone acan confirm? thanks...really like it and want to trade my 04 E55 for it...I know it is slower but need a bigger car for my family...getting hard time to sit my son, 1 yrs old but he is tall and I am big...at least I still get the AMG Emblem...haha

It still has not been commited to production but I would expect your time frame is reasonable...could extend into Spring 2007. The ML63 is due for release in Mar 06 I think.

Congrats on your order. Will be lurking on the R forum and looking for pictures from you come June. Even though I selected the S Class, the R is still close to my heart and I think will turn out to be a great seller!
