Clanking noise while backing up
I just noticed this post in the MB Coupe forums. Mine does it too and the loaner ML 350 I have been driving does it too. I hear the clanking in the rear of the vehicle at super low speeds only while backing up or even moving forward. It seems that it is a delay in the caliper release of some sort. I am almost completely sure it is not a suspension issue. Any ideas?

It happens when I go go to fix my parking job, shift the car into drive and then back into reverse... I hear the clank happen as the car begins to move back and as then as I bring the car forward... any ideas? Suspension?"
