Talking Pending new owner of '06 R350

i can't wait to pick up this beauty next weekend!

i feel soothing behind the wheel surrounded by dozens of buttons...

white is never my favorite color. but with nav and pano on it, nothing else seems important (perhaps airmatic, but i can live without it for now).

it does not come with xenon, so i have to ask if the headlight module can be directly swapped, or which after-market mod kit is better, MTEC or eonon?

2007 R320 CDI
Congratulations! I have a white R320 CDI and while it wasn't my first choice of colour, I am now really pleased with it. With dark-tinted windows, the car looks great.

I have nav and xenons but no pano roof (my one regret).

The xenons are great. From reading on this board, factory retrofits are either not available or prohibitively expensive. Some people talk about after market units with varying degrees of success. I'd search this board and others to get insights and recommendations on the various aftermarket units.

Good luck!

Congratulations!

While white was never my favorite color either, I am enamoured every time I see one, especially right now during the summer here in TX!

Pano is a very cool option, as I don't see it very often on the R's that I've seen lately. The xenon's can be aftermarket, but can also void the warranty. Depends on your dealership or wherever you go for service.

Airmatic potentially is expensive to service if you keep the car a long time. But low and cool at highway speeds. Even without I believe the rear suspension has auto-load levelling. Xenons are a rare option, I find my base halogen units adequate. Happy driving!

white sure looks good when polished.
i'd like a CDI but for my price range it's hard to find a well equipped '07 CDI.
If the xenon cannot be swapped on, i might as well settle with halo for now. I saw MTEC unit on ebay stating direct wiring and no error message; will look into that.

i did not go air suspension with my touareg and always regret that...yes i heard some stories with faulty air suspension. it would still be nice to have different settings when driving along and hauling family.
i put on H&R on t-reg and it's just too harsh whenever kissing a pot hole.
i'll need some more mileage to decide what to do with R's suspension.

Oops i should have included it. Now i don't know how to edit the poll.
SL is on my wanted list for a long time. Guess i need to wait 10+ years.
I really felt "wow" when getting into the R. The pano is so gorgeous and the third row is so comfy. I've tried a whole bunch of SUV's third row including Highlander, Sequoia, Land Cruiser, XC90, SRX, Commander, GX, GL, Q7, and MDX... Nothing even comes close to R. I know R is not in the same segment as SUV, but for a guy who wouldn't trade his soul to a minivan, R is really the holy grail.
Which reminds me about iPhone:
R to the minivan is as iPhone to the smartphone.
But why iPhone sells but R does not?

From what I've read, the MTEC aftermarkets seem to work the best and cause the least amount of issues. If it's a lease, you'll have to swap your factories back in when you're done. The MTEC's don't cause any error messages or electrical glitches from what i've read. I'm considering switching out my halogens with the MTEC's. Do a search and see what comes up.

R350
Had adjustable air suspension in the Audi allroad I traded in for the R350. It was nice that the car automatically adjusted height depending on speed and also fun being able to manually lower the car a couple inches in the warmer months where I didn't need the extra ground clearance.

Would have liked to have it on the R350 but when buying used you don't get to pick and choose the options. Never had a problem with the air suspension on the allroad but do know that the recommended scheduled maintenance (I think at 75k?) is expensive and also any repairs can also be.

Also have the Lighting Package with the xenons which is something I definately wanted since the allroad had them as does one of my other cars. Surprised that xenons were not standard.

Thanks. MTEC sounds like a good choice. I'll see how long i can stand without xenon...

Yap i always wanted to try out air suspension, or magnetic ones. i thought magnetic ones could last longer, besides i don't need variable height for an onroad machine. just need to waiting a few more years....

I just picked it up and everything feels fine. i am pretty amazed by the 23 mpg it post over 100 miles. How high can the R350 mpg go? Though the acceleration is not as quick as i would hoped for, it's responsive enough.

The trunk is tiny for 6 people road trip but i have a roof box and will put on racks when the time comes.

The suspension is comfy for road trip so i won't bother changing it to any jaw-dropping (from the pot holes) H&R or Eibach (do they make any for R?).

i really like the informative cluster and nav system. although not a touch screen it's not too hard to navigate after a little practice.

and guess what, the little ones now love to sit at the 3rd row looking through the big glass above.

ahh...what a joy!

Congratulations! The pano roof is still a hot item even after having the car for a while, and the kids like to show it off to their friends as well when they come over or we take them for a ride.

I don't think Eibach makes springs for the R. On the road if I can control the lead foot, and stay around 65-70 I have gotten 25.2 mpg in cruise control, in highway use.

kids love the pano! They won't trade the third row seats for bigger ones in the front.

i got 24.5 mpg for 100 miles trip at 70 mph with 4 adults and two small kids.

the cargo space is really small for grocery shopping but we managed to squeeze them between seats.

the suspension is way too soft for cornering and the 17"s scream a lot.
i would probably upgrade to 19"s. but i really had HARD time with H&R and will hold off until someone else makes some springs that won't bust any bottom.
